Discussion at the Ministry of Environment

Air quality and monitoring capabilities in the Republic of Armenia: discussion at the Ministry of Environment. Recently, there has been a lot of noise regarding high air pollution levels, which is due to a number of circumstances. In particular, data on air pollution in Yerevan from the website of the Swiss technology company IQAir is being published. The Yerevan Municipality has also installed devices at construction sites to monitor the content of fine dust particles, PM2.5 and PM10.
Under the leadership of Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, a discussion was held with the representatives of the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health, the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Centre" SNCO of the Ministry of Environment, and the Yerevan Municipality.
During the discussion, the classification of air pollution levels according to current regulations was referenced.
-The "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Centre" SNCO of the Ministry of Environment presented the main air pollutants and their main sources, the current state of air quality monitoring, and the requirements for the development of the air quality monitoring system arising from the international obligations of the Republic of Armenia.
-The Yerevan Municipality presented the methodology and goals of air quality monitoring in the capital.
-During the meeting, the proposals provided by the Ministry of Health on the threshold limit value of air pollutants approved by the World Health Organization, as well as ways to provide the public with appropriate and accurate information were discussed.
